NDT Training

Our courses have been developed to increase the participant’s knowledge of the NDT technique and satisfy the requirements of SNT-TC1A, ANSI/ASNT CP-189, NAS 410 (MIL-STD 410) and ISO 9712.  All topics in the body of knowledge outlined in ANSI/ASNT CP-189, plus additional topics as necessary to meet your requirements, are addressed.

NDT is used to determine the integrity of parts and materials.  It has long been recognized that the effective application of NDT methods depends on the knowledge and skills of the person applying the method.  Effective training provides knowledge of the technical principles and the basic skills required to properly apply the NDT processes.

Courses are presented by instructors possessing both ASNT Level III Certification in the method being instructed and training in instructional methods.  Our training courses were designed to impart the knowledge and skills required for your personnel to properly apply NDT techniques.  Your company will benefit by having personnel well trained in the methods used.

Course length is determined by the requirements of the specified documents. Generally, the surface methods, PT, MT, and VT require twenty hours for certification to Level II while the methods used most often to investigate the interior of an object, RT and UT, require 40 hours for Level I and an additional 40 hours for Level II.  Courses use overhead, slide and/or PowerPoint presentations and course materials are included in the fee. ASNT NDT Training Manuals are used as the reference material. Each student receives their own book. Quizzes are given throughout the course to measure the students comprehension. Course completion exams are given to insure that the student has achieved the course objectives.

While most of NDT-CGI's training courses are conducted on-site for our clients, we also conduct scheduled training courses open to the public in Sweden in cooperation with CSM Materialteknik and in Kansas City, Kansas in cooperation with Radiatronics NDT Inc.

At the conclusion of the course the participants should be able to:

  • Demonstrate their understanding of the body of knowledge of the NDT method;
  • explain the scope and limitations of the method;
  • select the appropriate equipment and accessories for the employer’s applications;
  • select the proper procedure;
  • select the proper calibration standards;
  • calibrate the equipment;
  • apply the method and;
  • interpret and report the result of the NDT.

Training can be conducted in your facility or we can arrange facilities. Courses can be scheduled at times convenient for you. It need not be 9 - 5!

In cooperation with our affiliated companies, courses can be conducted in English, Spanish, Dutch, Swedish, or Arabic.

Through our agreement with CSM Materialteknik AB in Sweden we can conduct courses at their facilities using their equipment.
